Living in Michigan Coalition
--- Coalition Members: Click here for online commitment form. ---
The Living in Michigan Coalition is a group of around thirty organizations, including CEDAM, working together to advance Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund (MHCDF).
The mission of the fund is to provide housing opportunities for all Michigan residents, and to help transform our economy by improving the quality of life in Michigan's cities, towns, and villages – especially those with high concentrations of poverty – to create vibrant communities where people want to live, work, and retire.
Building and sustaining vibrant cities is central to any plan to revitalize Michigan. Michigan’s Housing and Community Development Fund will accomplish its mission by:
- Financing downtown and neighborhood improvements to make them attractive places to live and do business.
- Financing affordable and market rate housing for young people, knowledge workers, immigrants, early retirees, and people with low and moderate incomes.
- Financing supportive housing for the homeless and people with disabilities.
MHCDF Tax Check-Off
In spring 2010, the Coalition will focus on raising $100,000 or more through a check-off box on the voluntary contributions form for Michigan income tax returns. This is an important way to raise money and awareness for the MHCDF.
Coalition members should complete a commitment agreement form for the check-off campaign ASAP. This can be done online or by downloading it [152KB PDF] and faxing it to CEDAM (517.485.3043).
If you are not a coalition member but would like to help with the check-off campaign, please visit www.livinginmichigan.org to learn more.
